Gauge: 4 DC = 1” 5 DC rows = 2”
Top of hat is approximately 5 ½” wide
H 5.0 or 7/4.5mm, or size to obtain gauge.
Yarn: Worsted weights – Medium
Join with sl stitch.

Round 1: Ch 3, counts as one DC. Make 11 DC in ring. Join with Sl st to top of ch 3 Total: 12 DC
Round 2: Ch 3; make one DC in same stitch. 2 DC in each DC around. Join with Sl St to top of ch 3. Total: 24 DC
Round 3: Ch 3; make one DC in same stitch. * 1 DC in each of next 2 DC, 2 DCs in next DC. Repeat from * to last DC. 2 DCs in last DC. Join.
Round 4: Ch 3; make one DC in same stitch. * 1 DC in each of next 3 DC; 2 DCs in next DC. Repeat from * around to final 3 DCs.DC in each of next 2 DCs; 2 DC in final DC of round. Join.
Round 5: Ch 3; make one DC in same stitch. * 1 DC in each of next 4 DC; 2 DCs in next DC. Repeat from * around to last 4 DCs. DC in each of next 3 DCs; 2 DCs in final DC of round. Join. Total: 48 stitches.
Round 6: Ch 3; make one DC in next stitch. *FPDC in each of next 2 DCs; DC in each of next 2 DCs. Repeat from * around. Join.
Creates 2 x 2 rib effect. Rounds 7 – 11: Repeat round 6.
Round 12::Ch 2. HDC in next stitch. *FPHDC in each of next 2 DCs. HDC in each of next 2 DCs. Repeat from * around. Join. Continues 2 x 2 effect, but prepares for final 2 edging rows.
Round 13: Ch 1. SC tbl in each HDC around; join.
Round 14: Ch 1. SC tbl in each SC around; join. Fasten off – weave in ends.

    I'm a huge fan of Debbie Macomber. Through her I have crochet so far 53 hats for Halos for Hope. And I'm still going.
